Samfélag fyrir Öll – Community for All

“Community for All” was officially registered at the end of 2024, although its members have been actively engaged in community projects on the Reykjanesbær peninsula since 2019.

The organization’s core mission is to facilitate workshops and events that are inclusive and accessible to everyone, regardless of background, nationality, or language. This commitment presents various challenges, which we address through flexible and adaptive organizational methods. Consequently, each workshop is tailored to ensure that every participant feels welcome, respected, and supported, including individuals with disabilities and those who are neurodivergent.

We are dedicated to creating multicultural and diverse cultural experiences that unite long-term residents with newcomers. Our initiatives serve multiple aims, including empowering participants’ voices, enhancing confidence, promoting creative thinking, strengthening problem-solving abilities, and fostering teamwork. Additionally, our work focuses on developing self-awareness, body-mind integration, and a deeper understanding of the internal processes each individual experiences.

Recognizing the vulnerabilities of those we work with, we adjust our approach to cultivate a safe space—free from judgment and devoid of a singular “correct” method for completing tasks or exercises.

Engaging the local community in creative processes is immensely rewarding and reveals that everyone possesses unique strengths that can be shared and developed. We believe in the inherent creativity of all individuals, and through structured guidance, we aim to nurture this creativity, allowing it to emerge, grow, and be celebrated collectively.

Moreover, we understand that fostering connections—with other individuals and the surrounding environment—benefits both the social fabric of the region and enhances awareness of local ecosystems. This process helps participants feel more connected, responsible, and attuned to their current surroundings.

Our flagship project, *Empowering Voices*, consists of a series of classes that incorporate creative writing, performance, and movement techniques to explore various means of expressing thoughts and emotions. While writing is an integral part of the curriculum, our primary mode of communication within the sessions revolves around body language—a form of expression that transcends spoken words. Participants engage with the power of movement, gesture, and rhythm in articulating personal narratives.

This project provides participants with a gradual introduction to performance techniques and creative tools, enabling them to develop ideas they may wish to share with an audience. We emphasize reflection and responsibility, analyzing how our concepts relate to culture, imagination, and societal stereotypes.

Our objective is to provide participants with as much creative freedom as possible. Those interested can involve themselves in various stages of theater production, such as scriptwriting, composing texts or music, and designing lighting elements.
